Background
Maxim Gennadyevich Reshetnikov is the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, a cabinet-level position he has held since 21 January 2020. In this role, he leads the Ministry of Economic Development, which is responsible for federal policy in areas such as economic planning, investment climate, and long-term development strategy. His position places him among the officials involved in shaping Russia’s economic policy and coordinating work across the federal government.
Born on 11 July 1979, Reshetnikov is a Russian politician who rose through regional and federal administrative posts before joining the cabinet. He served as governor of Perm Krai from 18 September 2017 to 21 January 2020, a period in which he headed one of Russia’s constituent regions. Before becoming governor, he had already been active in Russian public administration, and by the time he entered the federal government he had become part of the country’s senior political class.
Reshetnikov is also a member of the Supreme Council of United Russia, linking him to the country’s dominant political party. His career has been associated with regional governance and the federal economic bloc, making him part of the group of officials responsible for economic management in contemporary Russia. Through his ministerial post, he has remained a visible figure in national economic affairs and in the implementation of government policy.
